Grumbling And Grace Pop Ups
The people of Israel conveniently forgot how JHVH drowned the Egyptian army, fed them with manna, vanquished their enemies and all the other neat stuff He did. They complained about minor stuff like water problems and imperfect leaders (no angels anywhere). It displeased the Lord. In Ex 7 and Nu 20 we read about these incidents (at Meribah and Massa). The word massa in Hebrew means “despair”.
Our attitude when we are in despair matters a lot to the Lord. To maintain a thankful rather than a grumbling heart pleases God. However, when we grumble as if God has done nothing for us in the past, our despair becomes even more despairing because we cannot now EXPERIENCE our Lord’s grace which He freely bestows on us when there is a “flat tire.” Grumbling blocks the flow of grace and strength that should come to us during the “flat tire” periods or events. When there is a “downer”, remember, God is waiting to help…… send His strength and grace. But, when you start grumbling and complaining(tantamount to rebellion), like the people of Israel, you will have to operate on your OWN strength rather than God’s because His grace is blocked – it can’t pop up into your life. Grumbling BLOCKS THE GRACE POP UPS IN YOUR LIFE! So, when you are tempted to despair and grumble, just move the cursor and click, “Always allow pop ups from Heaven.” It’s only a prayer away.
